NBS360

NBS360 - A Transformative Innovation Ecosystem for Resilient Water Management through Scalable Nature-Based Solutions in the Mediterranean
Mediterranean water systems are increasingly exposed to droughts, floods, soil degradation, water pollution, biodiversity loss, and governance fragmentation. NBS360 responds to these interlinked pressures with an integrated 360-degree framework. The project combines site-specific Nature-Based Solutions with real-time monitoring, hydrological modelling, Digital Twin simulations, an Explainable AI-powered decision support system, stakeholder-driven Decision Theaters, and innovative instruments such as Nexus Credits.
IRIDRA serves as the technical partner with extensive expertise in Nature-Based Solutions (NBS). In addition, it leads the Work Package "Strategic Scaling of Nature-Based Solutions", which translates demonstration outcomes into replication strategies, scaling readiness frameworks, institutional roadmaps, and mechanisms for transboundary learning and collaboration.
The project is coordinated by Ellinikos Georgikos Organismos – Dimitra (Greece), and involves numerous international partners, including NEURALIO A.I. ΙΚΕ, Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung GmbH - UFZ, Institut Po Bioraznoobrazie I Ekosistemni Izsledvaniya Balgarska Akademiya Na Naukite, Universitat Politècnica de València, Ecoadapta, University of Sassari - Nucleo di Ricerca sulla Desertificazione, Università degli Studi di Cagliari - DICAAR, Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, Ecole Supérieure des Ingénieurs de Medjez El Bab, Bogazici Universitesi, DOKTAR Teknoloji Anonim Şirketi.
The project, funded under the PRIMA programme (TOPIC SECTION 1 – Water management in Nexus), started in May 2026 and will end in April 2029, for a total duration of 36 months.
